Since 1998
Two brothers and a taste of home
The Schwarma Company began with two brothers who came to South Africa from the Middle East. They missed the food they grew up with: home cooking, and the street food sold on every corner back home. In Johannesburg there was hardly any to be found.
So in 1998 they started making it themselves. Schwarma carved from the spit, crisp falafel, warm pita, humus and tachina, made the way they remembered it.
More than 25 years later the same passion goes into every plate, and the restaurant on Grant Avenue has become a Johannesburg landmark. Whether you want a quick schwarma for lunch or a feast of falafels, haloumi and more with friends and family, you are eating the food that started it all.

Sports bar and patio
If you haven't visited us recently, you may be pleased to know we've expanded the restaurant with an upstairs sports bar and an open patio. Come and watch the rugby, or lounge on the patio deck with your friends under the open sky.
The restaurant is fully licensed, with good wines and local and imported beers.
On the menu
Our daily staples
Beef, chicken and lamb schwarmas, in a pita or a laffa, with haloumi and falafel for vegetarians. Chicken livers, kebabs, lamb chops, burgers, steaks and ribs. A salad bar full of fresh salads, pickles and dips, and starters like humus, tachina and tsatziki.
And for something sweet, halva and baklava, much of it on display as you walk in.
